using "renderer" command does not change the menu option

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying the "Renderer" option isn't getting changed in the menu, or that the "OpenGL Options" isn't disappearing? Because for the latter that's intentional.

I did notice from testing just now that the "Renderer" option doesn't get changed. Just was a little confused on your gif.

I was showing that the renderer option still says software then I go into OpenGL settings because I'm on renderer 2

I actually can confirm that it's true cause I did report this on Bugs Report on the MB. I left screenshots there that shows that.
